My headshotAbout Rachelle Sparks

Through my book, my blogs, my tweets, my posts, and my life, I am a storyteller. With a love for words from the time I could write, and a passion for telling stories from the time I could talk, this is what I have been. When it came time after high school to choose a college path and eventual career, I chose writing over my other interests in photography, graphic design, and psychology. Since 2001, I have been a professional writer, starting with a career in newspaper reporting, venturing into freelance magazine writing, and eventually taking the entrepreneurial path to book writing, blogging, and social media. My first book, titled “Once Upon A Wish: True Inspirational Stories of Make-A-Wish Children,” was published in 2012. While getting a book published is most writer’s dream come true (as it was for me), it was also a reality check that books don’t sell themselves! Force and eventual interest (thank goodness) led me to the world of social media, where I learned to promote my book via online mediums. This path, in turn, inspired me to do the same for others, which is the reason I started Blue Chelle Media, LLC. This small side business allows me to tell other people’s business-related stories with short tweets, long blogs posts, and regular Facebook updates. (FYI, I am always taking new clients 🙂

To share the more personal side of who I am, I enjoy more than just writing. I enjoy traveling, cooking, decorating, dancing, wine, and above all, I love being a mom. I have two amazing little boys – ages 4 and 6 – and a little girl on the way. They keep the deeper side of my brain stimulated every single day – the wonders of who they are, of just how lucky I am to have them, and of the way life – with all its ups and downs – works out the way it’s supposed to work out. I capture the sweetest and silliest moments of my life with them on a blog I maintain with one of my very best friends at The Mommy Blog Chronicles.  I blog about inspiration on my book’s blog. I created this online space to share pieces of me with all of you. I write and post and blog about life, inspiration, motherhood, and all-things-social-media. I hope you find my site a place of inspiration, of humor, of learning, and above all, of interest.

With one of my best friends, I started The Mommy Blog Chronicles as an online space to vent about, rejoice in, marvel at, and relish in all things motherhood.

Woven through the lives of eight families featured in my first book, “Once Upon A Wish: True Inspirational Stories of Make-A-Wish Children,” is a common thread – a wish from the Make-A-Wish Foundation – and in this book, their stories unite and become an inspiring testimonial to the resilience and strength of the human spirit.  These families generously invite us into their worlds through these stories, allowing us to become part of their darkest moments, their unimaginable realities, their greatest hopes, deepest fears, and unbelievable triumphs. Experience the story of a little girl becoming a medical marvel after defying all odds stacked against her; a wheelchair-bound boy giving the gift of mobility to ten disabled Cambodian men and women; a little boy experiencing Paris, France from 5,000 miles away; a young girl meeting her musical icon after his music set her free. Root for the girl whose life-long goal is to raise $3 million for St. Jude’s Hospital and the family that collects millions of pennies each year to help others fight the disease they once fought. Become forever-changed, deeply moved, and truly inspired by the generosity, hope, courage, and optimism of these children and their families and experience how the power of two words, “I Wish,” can change lives. But not just any lives – the lives of the most selfless, deserving families in the world. Families who have stared death in the face, battled emotional war, and emerged with perspective that will undoubtedly inspire those who join them on their journeys in “Once Upon A Wish.”

Once I began reading this book, I could not put it down. It is so well written and such a tribute to these kids and their families. All the stories were articulated very well. I was inspired and touch by each and every one. I think it is a good example of life and death, kindness and charity, as well as compassion and strength. A must read!

These are incredible stories. I was blown away with the author’s precision story-telling. She brings each story to these pages with incredible detail. The discussions with doctors, the thoughts and prayers of parents, and the absolute joy of these children receiving their wishes – all beautifully told.

Rachelle Sparks made me experience every emotion under the sun and I thank her for tugging at my heart strings. She invited me into the lives of these young people and allowed me to be part of their life journey. Words are our mascot and tell the world what needs to be heard. Rachelle Sparks definitely possess that gift and I am thankful she took the time to connect with these families, research and write stories that capture the heart.

Meeting Serena via the Make-A-Wish Foundation was an extraordinary and life-changing experience. Reading the story behind her journey to that fateful day is a brutally honest account of bravery and determination we can all take inspiration from. I certainly have.
